Emily Madore, Class of 2022

Emily is in her fourth year of Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and minoring in Supply Chain and Operations Management. She is one of the founders of the photography club “Through the Lens” and is currently serving as the president of the Ontario Tech Finance Association (OTFA)!

Emily's Leadership at Ontario Tech

Involvement in extra-curricular activities made my university experience more enjoyable! I started a photography club called “Through the Lens” in my second year, along with a few friends who loved photography. I am currently the President of the Ontario Tech Finance Association and started on the team in my third year as Vice President of Operations. I am proud to enhance other students' experiences and bring informative and fun events to all our students.

Work Experience

I am currently a Financial Analyst at Safran Landing Systems in Ajax. I started there earlier this month and will be continuing full-time upon graduation in April. I work with the whole finance team to ensure monthly sales and costs of sales are reported, create P&L along with other statements, and create rolling budgets. The company added my position to the team to help with the regular operations and improve outdated systems within the company.

I have also had previous work experience within the Aerospace and Automotive industries, both within supply chain and operations management. I recently moved back from Guelph, where I finished a four-month internship at Linamar in Guelph as a Materials Coordinator. I created a whole new system for tracking parts loaned to other facilities. Before this, I worked at Bombardier Aerospace at Downsview for 2.5 years as a Supplier Management Intern responsible for creating a new system for tracking daily KPIs, tracking stock levels, and keeping updated with suppliers. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in supply chain roles but decided to try a Finance role to try something new.

Emily’s Advice

Don't be scared to try new things and network with others as much as you can. It makes your University experience so much more enjoyable and is a fantastic way to meet people who have similar interests as you. I am grateful for meeting many amazing people through various clubs I joined and will have these friends in my career. Student leaders at our school are always willing to give any advice and would be happy to answer any questions you have, don't be afraid to reach out!
